LORNE G. SIMPSON

As a partner with Simpson Roberts Architecture Interior Design Inc., Lorne is responsible for the redevelopment of numerous significant conservation projects.  Projects such as the recently completed Reader Rock Garden and Lougheed Mansion in Calgary, have earned him a great deal of public recognition for his efforts in this specialized field.  In progress are the Lougheed Block, the Central Memorial Park project and also the Carl Safran School, which have also received public accolades by virtue of their significance to the local community.

Lorne has received numerous awards including thirteen City of Calgary Heritage Awards, and three Alberta Association of Architects Awards of Merit for various restoration projects, Stephen Avenue Mall Redevelopment and several projects for OCO (Olympic Organizing Committee).  Additional projects include the Convention Centre/Hyatt Hotel, Medalta Potteries, Radium Hot Springs, the Alberta Mainstreet Programme and projects within Banff National Park including the restoration of the Banff Administration Building and Upper Hot Springs.

 

Lorne was inducted into the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts for his significant contributions to the built environment in 2002.

CHRISTOPHER ALLAN ROBERTS
C.E.T., M.A.A.A., M.R.A.I.C., LEED

As a partner with Simpson Roberts Architecture Interior Design Inc., Chris is presently responsible for the design of a new office addition for Talisman Energy and the development of Shepard Wetlands Environmental Education/Visitor's Centre for the City of Calgary. Chris has also been responsible for a number of recent recreation projects including the new Pincher Creek Multi-Purpose Centre, Glenmore Sailing School Redevelopment, and the just completed Bobsled/Luge Start Training Facility for Canada Olympic Park.

Other completed projects include the redevelopment of the Pilkington Building, the new 800,000 sq.ft. head office and manufacturing plant for Smed International, Mogens Smed's private residence and client guest facilities in Priddis, the Telus Video Conference Centre, a computer center for Simplot Canada in Brandon, the Lakeview United Church and Lutheran Church of the Cross, the North Mount Pleasant Art Centre and various computer/control related projects for Petro-Canada, Syncrude Canada Ltd., BF Goodrich and Shell Oil Canada. In addition, Chris has received awards from the Alberta Association of Architects and Western Living Magazine for the Mullis Residence and a Canadian Architect Award of Excellence for the Mirror Lake Visitors' Centre in Camrose, Alberta.

Chris is currently an Adjunct Professor of Architecture in the Faculty of Environmental Design at the University of Calgary. His other teaching experience includes lecturing at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada Syllabus Program.

 

In 2006, Chris completed his LEED™ certification and is now qualified to manage any projects requiring LEED™ accreditation.
